Here are lists of books on, |

Exhibitions and Fairs have been going on for centuries and will continue into the forseeable future. This section of the CEC Website lists books related to these subjects. |

Many of the titles here are long out of print. Even so, full publishing details are shown when available because they're helpful to collectors. Plus, older books which have newer reprints may still be able to be ordered, so showing publisher and other information is useful for the purpose of tracking down these books. Your local library might be able to source older books through inter-library loans. |
Prices are for the time of original issue, but some may be for reprint issues. These are only given as a guideline and may vary from publisher to publisher. Of course, prices for used books may exceed the original list price depending on rarity and demand. |
|
Be aware that not all titles under World's Fairs will be overviews of the given fair. Some will only be on the subject of the artwork or architecture and have little else. Some will narrowly focus on one apsect of a fair. These might include the finances or perhaps a perticular pavillion. |
Some are just reports of papers presented at various forums at a given fair. Others are reports to the host country's government. They may or may not have information on the fairs themselves but have been included as they might be of interest to some collectors. |
|
Entries labelled "Fair Guide Book" were typically only available at the fair gates or within the city hosting the fair, although sometimes could be mail-ordered. These are collectors' items and may only be found through garage sales, flea markets, and collectors/dealers. They are not reviewed as they are usually simple guide books with maps, pictures & descriptions of each pavilion or attraction, along with such things as restaurant types & locations, stroller rentals, washroom locations, etc. However, they are extremely valuable to those wishing to fully understand the layout and attractions of past fairs; and once studied, they allow one to mentally walk the grounds of these bygone exhibitions in history. |
