EUCLID BEACH PARK IS CLOSED FOR THE SEASON (1977)

By Lee Bush, Ed Chukayne, Russell Hehr, and Richard Hershey.
This is a detailed history of the famous Ohio, U.S.A. park
and the family that owned it for most of its 75 years of
operation. Contains over 400 illustrations. *(Highly recommended.
Although this is the by-now usual story of the rise and fall of a
traditional amusement park, there are two big differences.
First, it is heavy with detail of the evolution of the park, and
loaded with well-reproduced photos & illustrations. The authors have
done a tremendous job of research, organization and analization of the
material. The result is a hugely entertaining and well-written book.
Euclid Beach was unique in that it purchased and operated several
        fairly rare rides -- a 1929 Miller & Bartlett "Flying Turns," a 1921
Prior & Church Racing Derby, and a four-row 1910 PTC wooden carousel.
Euclid Beach also owned a beautiful 1923 PTC wooden coaster, The
"Thriller", as well as a 1913 Miller double "Racing Coaster". All are
described and pictured in extensive detail.

EUCLID BEACH PARK IS CLOSED FOR THE SEASON
 (Continued)

Euclid owners, the Humphrey family, were also unique. The founder
was Dudley Humphrey, who opened a popcorn stand with his own patented
popper at Chicago's Columbian Exposition in 1893. From that one stand,
the enterprise grew and in 1901, the Humphrey family purchased Euclid
Beach Park, which it owned and operated until 1969. So it's also a
story of persistence, foresight and dedication as well.) Book review
