Pennyland
(? - ?)

Ken Jones of Niagara Falls, Ontario has suggested this park. Little information has surfaced yet, but it had at least a carousel, the building of which is still standing, and a roller coaster or "Laff in the Dark" style ride.

The park was shown on the "Creepy Canada" television show in 2006. There was supposedly an incident when paranormal investigators visited the abandoned Pennyland Amusement Park. A serial killer alledgedly had used the location as his hunting grounds.

Rob McInnes of Winnipeg has researchd this park and believes it may never have existed except as a set for the TV show. Some think the park's buildings seen on that show resemble those of the defunct Pennsylvania Rocky Springs Park. Rob says: "I was going to suggest that you take Pennyland off your listings, but maybe you should leave it there with a disclaimer -- it never existed. It was apparently fabricated for the "Creepy Canada" TV show." See: YouTube Video.

Given that little concrete information has been found, it may be true that the park never existed. On the other hand, closed amusement parks have been used as motion picture and television sets in the past. Research continues...

UPDATE:
2018, May.   Cherylee Black of Ottawa researched this place. Here is what she has to say:

There never was a park called "Pennyland" in Manitoba.

I contacted the people at Epona Films Production (the company that produced Creepy Canada) and was able to get the story behind the show on Pennyland.

First off, they made a point of changing the names and geographical location for the places used in the show in order to discourage vandalism and trespassing by paranormal enthusiasts (particularly minors). So even if there had been a haunted amusement park, it would not have been named "Pennyland" and its location would have been different than what was shown in the episode.

Secondly, the source of the original story (a now-defunct AngelFire page) was never thoroughly vetted by the researchers at Creepy Canada. It was a story that had been suggested to the show by viewers.

The Pennyland segment was filmed in Kentucky. The production company was told the real location would be too difficult to get to, and quite honestly, the people at the production company have no idea if there actually was a "real" location. They never went there.

    Thank You, Cherylee !
