Beaches and Pleasure Gardens
of Canada

You are about to explore the outdoor pleasure districts of Canada's past. Few books, articles and documentaries are available on this subject compared to the number involving similar areas in other locations such as Great Britain and The United States. Usually for Canada, these amusement areas are discussed as part of a larger book or documentary on some other subject such as a town's history. Unfortunately, save for a few dedicated books, in most cases the amusements detail is scarce.

This section of the CEC website will improve upon that. Books, videos, newspaper articles & their advertisements, and many personal recollections have been drawn upon to document Canada's amusement past in order to present it to you here. Many postcards have been reproduced in the various park articles along with photos from generous submitters.

First read the CCP Preliminary. Then after viewing the CCP Articles of interest, check some of the associated links shown here for CEC pages containing related information. In addition, to see all links affiliated with subjects of the past at the CEC website, go to Canada's Outdoor Amusement Past.
